something blue.

its common knowledge that a bride should wear something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue on her wedding day. i feel like the first 3 make sense : an old + new something to represent the traditional past + the bright future, a borrowed something to reflect the close friends/family that support the marriage. but where does this blue come from? it turns out, the something blue is a symbol of faithfulness + loyalty, which is pretty important, right?

this subject definitely has fallen in the "i'll do that later" category for my wedding. but i know time will creep up + i'll wish i had my something blue item squared away. i don't want to do the norm : blue shoes, blue garter, blue hair pins, etc. i'd rather have my little blue item in a unique + unexpected place. so what does that mean? how creative can a girl get with her something blue? it turns out you can get quite creative with the blue on your wedding day.

once i decide on my something blue item, i'll be sure to fill you in. until then, got any ideas?

its almost the weekend!

bear soles.

our reception is on the beach (so fun!) + i'm toying with the idea of making a sign that says something along the lines of "lose the shoes!" to encourage people to kick off their pumps. here are some cute ideas, which ones do you like the best?

save those dates.

save the dates are becoming more common these days + therefore getting more creative. i've seen various save the dates : from homemade movies, to balloons, to towels that can be reused in the kitchen. i had a super hard time selecting ours because the options are plentiful + so, so cute!
how about this venn diagram save the date created by the couple themselves?
something i would never think about - but will definitely keep in mind.
what a great idea for a couple who shares a love for math!

three little words, a small letter press + printing company
makes these adorable cork save the dates. wouldn't this be cute for a vineyard wedding?
you could carry on the cork theme throughout the wedding decor, place settings,
gifts + even bouquets.
sarah of august bloom came up with this cut out s.t.d. - it's incred!
i am such a fan of the chevron stripes + the little heart that indicates the wedding location.

are you singing johnny cash now? 'i'm goin' to jackson...' because i am!

last but not least our save the dates! i found them at my most favorite paper store in the world, paper source. i chose these partly because i love the wave design + also because it reminds me of the beach, where our wedding will be. i chose to include response cards due to the fact our wedding is destination, + i need to know the exact number of guests in order to block hotel rooms. + we had 2 versions of each card, 1 spanish + 1 english - the spanish cards were sent to our family in mexico. i'm really happy with how they turned out - all that hard work + attention to detail paid off.

...what did your save the dates look like?

have a lovely day!

the coral flamingo

hey there! i thought i'd kick off this blog by sharing my inspiration boards for my upcoming destination wedding this december. i've deemed the color scheme 'the coral flamingo', which is basically any shade of coral with a tropical twist. i think its very fitting for a beach wedding, don't you? plus it makes me so happy!
color scheme :
coral. doesn't it make you happy?
groomsmen :
linen pants (khaki color)
white button downs + their choice of shoes

bridesmaids :
i'm letting them pick their own dresses in any shade of coral; i love the mixed dress look.
can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

flowers :
bright coral peonies
cake :
simple, 3 tiered vanilla cake
peonies for the decor, i want to stay simple

have a lovely day!
